The Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) operates onshore and in shallow coastal water of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi. The original concession agreement was signed in January 1939 with Petroleum Development (Trucial Coast). In 1962, the Company became known as the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company Ltd. (ADPC), and in 1979, it became known as the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO).

The Company operates and produces oil mainly from five fields Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa, Sahil and Shah.These fields are linked to the storage and shipping facilities located at Jabel Dhana, where tankers load crude oil for export to markets in various parts of the world. Oil production comes also from four other oil fields: Jarn Yaphoure, Al Dabbiya, Rumaitha and Shanayel.
 
During 1998, Sahil oil field was developed and ADCO increased the operating land rigs to 12, all owned by the National Drilling Company.In 1999 the Asab Gas Gathering & Injection (AGGI) Project encompassed many other related activities which demonstrated ADNOC Group of Companies quality sharing of services.

Carries out the activities of exploration, production, development and export of crude oil and natural gas materials extracted from the concession area operated on behalf of its shareholders.

Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO), is a pioneering oil and gas producer whose operations date back to the 1950s, and are centred in the offshore areas of Abu Dhabi. Oil and gas production comes from two major fields  Umm Shaif and Zakum. The crude is collected from these fields using giant steel structures called supercomplexes, and then transferred to Das Island, a nearby industrial base, for processing, storing and world export.

The first oil discovery in Abu Dhabi was made in 1958 in Umm Shaif and the first oil shipment exported from Abu Dhabi to the world market came out on July 4th, 1962 from the same field.
Over the years, the Company adopted the latest in drilling techniques and technologies, starting with vertical, then deviated and ultimately horizontal drilling. The advancement in drilling is necessitated by the need to optimise oil and gas production.

ZADCO was established in 1977 to develop and operate the Upper Zakum Field, one of the largest oil fields in the world, on behalf of ADNOC and Japan Oil Development Company (JODCO). ZADCO shareholders are Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Japan Oil Development Company Ltd. (JODCO) and recently ExxonMobil.

The development of the Upper Zakum reservoirs is considered to be one of the major technical achievements in Abu Dhabi. Besides Upper Zakum, the company currently operates Umm Al Dalkh, and Satah fields. Crude oil from Upper Zakum, Umm Al Dalkh and Satah field is pumped via main oil lines to Zirku Island for further processing, storage and to be exported.
 
The company adopts the latest technologies in developing and operating these oil fields, with health, safety and environment concerns in mind, making it one of the leading operating companies in the oil industry in the U.A.E.

Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO) is the operating company in Abu Dhabi responsible for processing associate and non-associate gas from onshore oil production.

The Company began as a joint venture incorporated in 1978 with ownership shared between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), TOTALFINA ELF, Shell Abu Dhabi and PARTEX.
 
In April 2001, ABU DHABI GAS COMPANY (ATHEER) was integrated with GASCO, which lead to further enhancement to GASCO's position as one of the largest gas processing companies in the world and one of the biggest industrial projects in the UAE.

GASCO convents the previously flared oil by-products into different marketable forms of clean energy. Processing takes place in its four plants at Asab, Habshan/Bab, Bu Hasa, and Ruwais. A network of pipelines transport part of the processed NGL to Ruwais. A network of pipelines transport part of the processed NGL to Ruwais Plant where it is fractionated and separated into propane, butane and pentane plus. These three products are stored in special tanks to later ship them to the world via the loading jetty at Ruwais Plant. The remaining processed gas and residual dry gas are used as fuel for the field plants as well as several customers in Abu Dhabi including power and water desalination plants, refineries, petrochemical plants and other industrial amenities. GASCO also recently started supplying Natural Gas to the Emirate of Dubai

Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company

Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company (ADNATCO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of ADNOC, established for the transportation of crude oil, refined products, petrochemical products, gas and associated petroleum products.

It owns and operates a fleet of seven crude and products tankers, a molten sulfur carrier and a bunkering vessel. ADNATCO vessels trade worldwide for international customers including major oil companies.

The company also provides logistical support and advice on shipping to ADNOC and its group of companies.
 
In addition to managing and operating its own fleet, ADNATCO manages ADNOC offshore bunker supply ships.

In 1997, ADNATCO obtained the ISM and ISO 9002 quality certification for all its operations from Lloyd's Register (UK).

A public shareholding company TAKREER has been established in Abu Dhabi. According to law No.3 of 1999, the new company will have an independent corporate body status. Its area of operation includes refining of crude oil, salt, chlorine and petroleum condensates, Sulphur treatment, mixing of petroleum products or any other activities.

NDC is the first venture among ADNOC Group of Companies. It was established in May 1972 to handle drilling operations required for exploration and field development as well as undertaking work-over and maintenance operations in both onshore and offshore areas.

NDC became a wholly owned subsidiary of ADNOC in 1978.

NDC has successfully carried out all drilling operations requirements and played an important role in the discovery of oil and gas in Abu Dhabi. NDC won many safety awards including Gold and President's awards from the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC).

Today NDC is a leading drilling company with over 26 years of accumulated experience and one of the largest drilling contractors in the Middle East. Currently, the company operates a modern fleet of ten offshore and twelve onshore drilling and work-over rigs.

In addition, the company has six water well rigs all operating in two projects to survey the ground water of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

ADGAS was established in 1973 to turn gas, extracted from Abu Dhabi's offshore field crude oil, into a new source of marketable energy. The fact that gases are no longer used as fuel for oil field flares has impacted positively on the environment.

Immediately after the establishment of the company, a plant, the first of its kind in the Middle East, was built with an annual designed capacity of 2.5 million tons to produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG),in addition to 800,000 tons per year of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
 
An agreement was signed with the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) that allows the Japanese firm to import the plants production for 20 years.

In March 1977, ADGAS was re-incorporated as a national entity in Abu Dhabi. The first shipment of LNG left Das Island that same year. Due to the plants success in satisfying customer requirements, another agreement was signed with TEPCO in 1990 allowing ADGAS to double its production in 1994 and the Japanese Company to import its production for another 25 years.

As a result, the 3rd LNG Train, the largest of its kind in the world, was built adding another 2.5 million tons annually to the plants production and doubling capacity. The Train, which was completed in 1994, incorporates the latest technologies, making it one of the most advanced in the world. Its compliance with safety standards has enhanced the companys international reputation.

National Gas Shipping Company

The National Gas Shipping Company Ltd. (NGSCO) was established and registered in the British Virgin Islands in December 1993. The company has its main administration office in Abu Dhabi and two sub offices in Tokyo and Das Island.

The company operates a fleet of eight modern 135,000 M LNG ships and charters LNG, LPG and sulfur ships to transport ADGAS's products to Japan and other parts of the world. It also provides ADGAS with Marine expertise.
 
In 1997 NGSCO obtained ISO 9002 certification and was one of the first shipping companies in the world to obtain ISO 14001 certification in 1999.

Headquartered in Dubai, the engineering, procurement and construction business has been involved in the implementation of some of the major projects

Dodsal was founded as a trading company in 1948 in Mumbai, India. The Partners were DODWELL [a British Trading Company], Mr. Karsa Salem and the Kilachand family. In 1957, the Kilachand family’s shares were acquired by the Nandlal Kilachand branch of the family. In 1975, the Nandlal Kilachand branch of the family acquired 100% of the equity of the Dodsal group and in 1995 the Rajen Arvind Nandlal Kilachand branch of the family acquired the total shareholding.

Abu Dhabi Petroleum Ports Operating Company

Abu Dhabi Petroleum Ports Operating Company was incorporated in 1977 to operate all petroleum and industrial ports in Abu Dhabi and to provide maintenance operations, safety and diving services.

IRSHAD operates the oil terminals and ports of Jabel Dhanna, Ruwais, Umm AI Nar, Das Island, Zirku, and Mubarraz Islands.The company also carries out maintenance work on ADMA-OPCO's single point moorings and ZADCO's oil terminals. It also helps, whenever necessary, in combating oil pollution in petroleum ports.

IRSHAD owns 37 vessels of various types, as it specified and supervised the building of most of its vessels to ensure they were built to highest standards for their vital tasks.The vessels are crane maintenance and dive support vessels, 16 tugs, 14 line mooring boats. 4 fast pilot boats and a maintenance barge with a 20 ton hydraulic crane.

IRSHAD always strives to maintain its vessels in the best mechanical condition, through two workshops, one in Ruwais and another on Das Island, each equipped with the latest tools and highest expertise.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (ADNOC-FOD) was established in 1973 as the first government-owned company specialised in marketing and distribution of petroleum products in the United Arab Emirates.

ADNOC Distribution operates a vast network of filling stations covering all areas of the UAE. The company's fuel products are distributed by its own fleet of load tankers in addition to pipelines for transporting petroleum products to the main depots.
 
In 1979 ADNOC Distribution opened its own lubricants blending, filling and packaging plant. Today, a whole range of new lubricants based on the latest international specifications are being introduced. In 1993, a modern grease plant started production.

In addition, ADNOC Distribution operates two LPG bottling plants, one in Abu Dhabi and the other in AI Ain. Also it operates three vessels to supply gas oil to Abu Dhabi Islands.

Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (FERTIL) is a member of ADNOC Group of Companies, was established in October 1980 as a Joint Venture between ADNOC and TOTALFINAELF.

Construction activities began in 1980 and production started in December 1983. The prime objective behind establishing the company was to utilize lean gas supplies from the onshore fields of Bab, Asab and Thamama “C”, to produce fertilizers and market them locally and internationally.

The Complex located in Ruwais Industrial Zone, comprises Ammonia and Urea processing plant. Installed capacity for the Ammonia Plant is 1050 MTPD and 1500 MTPD for Urea. The Complex has fully integrated utility units with storage and loading facilities.
