Job Description
Work Scope:
 
The scope of work as described in more detail hereinafter shall include, but not be limited to, the supply of qualified personnel and provision of supervision. Contractor shall give complete satisfaction to Company on the quality of the above services.
 
Basic Function:
 
Operates, controls and monitors, on an assigned shift, one or more of the following operations as instructed and directed by the Supervisor: Gas Sweetening Plant (Units and Equipment) (GSP); Utilities Operation (Power Plant); Water Injection Operation (WIP); Central Control Room (CCR).  Includes making the necessary adjustments to ensure the proper functioning of equipment in synchronization to maintain specified production, startup and shut down plants and equipment as warranted, and as instructed by the Supervisor, logging operational parameters and reporting any anomalies to the Supervisor.  Ensures that all utilities functions are properly carried out during shift.  Takes periodical logs of operating parameters for all assigned units and prepares shift log book as required.  Includes preparing periodic log sheets from control panel and local dials mounted on various equipment, preparing and adjusting chemical dosing, making necessary adjustments on equipment when on duty.  Generally checking area of operation and reporting any anomalies to the Supervisor.  Monitors all alarm systems mounted on various plants and areas of the Offshore Complex and advises concerned Operators of any malfunction thereto when assigned to CCR.
 
Work Performed:
 
When assigned to Central Control Room:
 
Operates and adjusts control panel instrumentation governing the operation of gas sweetening processing units and all related heaters, pumps, engines, compressors and similar equipment to maintain constant and balanced production of gas in accordance with specified parameters.  In the absence of the Supervisor, relays information to other units (Water Injection, Utilities, etc.) regarding changes in operation conditions or demand.
Monitors and maintains a continuous check on the operation of plant facilities and auxiliary equipment by reading and inspecting indicating and recording instruments to ensure that such equipment is operating within specified limits.  Takes corrective action as necessary.
Prepares or checks the preparation of shift log sheets by entering such operating data such as product change and process rates, temperatures, pressures, production and flow rates.  Records operating malfunctions and the conditions of equipment.  Checks log sheets to ensure all figures are properly recorded at prescribed times and that all show normal and stable conditions.
Directive the activities of the Gas Sweetening Plant, Water Injection Plant and Utilities Operators and carries out regular checks for equipment and production specifications in the process area covering gas sweetening units, potable water units, flares system, etc.  Includes reviewing daily instructions, checking local controls, monitoring operating variables and adjusting pressure, temperature, flow and chemical levels accordingly.
 
When assigned to Gas Sweetening Plant:
 
Operates the Gas Sweetening Plant to produce gas of desired H2S level for the consumption of our gas turbines and boiler.  Duties include the regular detailed inspection of all machinery and equipment used in the Plant's operation covering chemical injection pumps, amine booster pumps, reflux pumps, reciprocating pumps, hot water pumps, hot water make up pumps, amine make up pumps, sour liquor pumps, amine contactor column, lean amine regenerator column, sour liquor vessels and heat exchangers.  The two Meco units also come under GSP Operator.  Ensures the proper and safe functioning of all the above equipment.
Takes three-hourly log readings, or as frequent as directed by the Plant Supervisor, from the local indicators mounted on equipment in the Plant area and enters in the log sheets.  Feeds back to Control Room Operator any apparent deviations from the specified standards to take corrective adjustments.
To dilute DEA solutions and to make up the losses due to evaporation.  Duties include the preparation of the DEA solution for the process to absorb H2S.  Monitors the subsequent separation of DEA from H2S in preparation of the latter's flaring.  Loads fresh DEA drums to storage vessel.  Monitors chemical dosing of potable water makers.
Monitors and controls the operation of the flare stack to burn off H2S gas and any excess gas released in the process or production separators. Duties includes igniting the flare after a shut-down or blow-off.  Ensures that the flare system is operating properly in accordance with all safety regulations.
Execution of start-up and shut-down of Plants.  Adjusts and monitors temperature, pressure, flow rates in the process ensuring that these are within the normal conditions.
         
When assigned to Utilities:
 
Controls the operation of the steam boiler, as instructed.  Duties include preparation of chemicals, adjusting chemical rates, monitoring steam temperature, pressure, flow and boiler level, fuel and flame etc.  Reports anomalies to the Supervisor and ensures continuous generation of steam for the process heat tracing and steaming out of equipment during shut-downs.
Start/stop checks and monitors the Complex's power generation plants comprising two turbo generators, two diesel engine driven emergency generators and associated ancillary equipment.
Carries out monthly load test of emergency generators, in conjunction with the Electrical Group, and weekly routine tests of stand-by generator to ensure proper working condition.
Start/stop checks and monitors the turbo driven injection pumps.
Checks/monitors and carries out routine test run of the Complex's fire water pumps, two diesel engine driven and two electrical driven pumps, and ensures they work properly.
Takes three-hourly log readings of all the above equipment and machinery from gauges and instruments mounted on the Plant.  Takes corrective action and feeds back to Plant Supervisor.
 
When assigned to Water Injection Operation (WIP):
 
Operates WIP to produce water for injection into injection wells in accordance with established specifications.  Includes implementing start-up and shut-down procedures, adjusting valves to govern flow, maintaining pressure, setting temperature controls.  Monitors running condition of pumps and checks a variety of dials and gauges in the Control Room or mounted on equipment.
Monitors and controls the operation of coarse filtering unit by manually starting-up and shutting-down units to ensure specified water quality.  Includes monitoring and reading analyses, adjusting any deviation in operation parameters (pressure, temperature, flow rate) and report anomalies to the Supervisor.
Monitors automatic controls of the operation of fine filtering (treating) unit to ensure specified water quality.  Includes checking and adjusting pressure, temperature, flow rate, etc.  Watches closely the back wash process and control flow rate and other operating parameters accordingly.
Controls water de-oxygenation process designed for reducing oxygen contents in injection water to prevent corrosion of subsea lines and bacteria gathering in order to keep reservoirs in a clean conditions.  Includes monitoring water level in the de-oxygenation tower to control flow rate from DCS control panel, checking and adjusting chemical dosing rate, reporting shortages in chemicals to the Supervisor and arranging toping of such tanks, monitoring vacuum pumps designed to remove air from the tower and adjusts as warranted.
 
General Functions:
 
Monitors and maintains a continuous check on the operation of the various utilities plants, GSP and WIP and auxiliary equipment by reading and inspecting various indicating and recording instruments to ensure that such equipment is operating within specified limits.  Reports operational deviations to the Supervisor and takes corrective action as necessary.
Carries out independently, or as directed by the Supervisor, various routing adjustments, co-operates with maintenance personnel and advises CCR immediately of any anomalies or difficulties in operation.  Directs and participates in the emergency shutdown of assigned units/equipment strictly according to procedures, and ensures safety in abnormal conditions.  Ensures that proper sequences are followed and that smooth running is implemented.  Liaises with other Operators at start and end of shift, noting or advising of any units/equipment requiring special attention.
Co-ordinates with maintenance crew on-site to ensure that equipment requiring repairs or maintenance work are properly isolated, depressurized and that the area is free of gas and safe in preparation for maintenance.  Includes preparing appropriate work permit, processing with the Supervisor for approval, preparing area for maintenance work by isolation, by-passing etc., and assists in preparing emergency work orders.
Prepares and maintains shift log sheet by entering such operating data, as feed changes, production rates, temperatures, pressures, production and flow rates etc., from a variety of gauges located both in the CCR and on equipment.  Records operating malfunctions and the condition of equipment, checks log sheets to ensure that all figures are correctly recorded at specified times and that all show normal and stable conditions. 
Manually adjusts or assists others in adjusting a variety of valves governing rates of flow and levels of pressure, temperature and chemical feed, to ensure correct output.  Takes independent action to ensure the maintenance of specified operating conditions and mixing and adjusting chemical feed, lubricating various mechanisms as required.  Assists in the taking of samples for laboratory testing of products of assigned units.
Controls the operation of alarm systems mounted on various units/areas in the Offshore Complex covering water injection plant, potable water units, living quarters, gas leak and fire detectors on various parts of the Complex, combustible gas detectors and advises concerned personnel of any malfunctions of alarms or detected hazards in their areas.  Sounds emergency alarm and shuts down equipment by operating the master kill knob.
Complies with all safety and fire regulations which include the use of protective clothing and equipment and ensures that personnel working in the Offshore Complex areas comply with safety procedures, maintaining the area in a clean and hazard free condition.
Carries out other similar or related duties in accordance with Company procedures, and as instructed and directed by the Plant Supervisor, such as arranging for immediate maintenance, reporting repair or maintenance requirements, practising good housekeeping, lubricating valves and other mechanical devices, making verbal and written reports to following shift and Plant Supervisor.  Liaise with other Operators to synchronize production with their operational needs. Carries out the duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Company procedures when the emergency situations occur.
